Nord Anglia Education has acquired an international school in Thailand.
The firm, which operates 14 schools globally, paid THB$960 million (£19 million) to acquire the operations of the Regent’s International School in Pattaya.
The deal involved buying a 49% stake of the holding company Regent Pattaya Campus Management (RPCM) from a US-investor, NNN Holding. Only THB$700 million of the consideration will be payable upfront, with the remainder due over the next two years.
As part of the deal, RPCM will retain 25-year lease over the school’s land and buildings. NNN Holding will provide consultancy services.
Regent’s Pattaya is located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Its current enrolment for the 2013 academic year is 950.
Nord Anglia Education operates eight European schools, five Asian schools, and one in the Middle East.
