US: Blackboard acquires X-Ray Analytics

Learning management system (LMS) provider Blackboard has acquired X-Ray Analytics, a predictive analytics firm.

According to the company, X-Ray "provides deep insights on learner behavior and identifies trends at course, cross-course and institutional levels". The terms of the deal are undisclosed.

The technology will be integrated into two of Blackboard’s LMS tools, Moodlerooms and Enterprise Moodle, to "empower teachers with statistically based predictions on likely future behaviours and academic outcomes".

This is Blackboard’s tenth acquisition since January 2014, the others being Remote-Learner, Schoolwires, ParentLink, Requestec, CardSmith, Perceptis, MyEdu, Global Connect and Grupo Positivo.
