Ian Fordham to head Microsoft’s education team

Microsoft has hired Ian Fordham as its new director of education.

Fordham , who co-founded the Education Foundation and is currently chief executive of Edtech UK, will join the company in January 2017.

At Microsoft, he will be responsible for overseeing the company’s work in schools, colleges and universities.

Prior to Edtech UK, Fordham held various positions across the education sector, including deputy director of the British Council for School Environments, head of policy at ContinYou and head of training and development at Education Extra.

He will continue his role as Mayor of London Tech Ambassador and join the advisory board of Edtech UK.

About his appointment, Fordham said: “This is an exciting time to join Microsoft. The company’s innovation and agility will allow it to deliver solutions that matter to Britain’s education system – across schools, colleges and universities.”
