UK: Former independent school up for sale

An independent school which closed its doors earlier this year has been put up for sale – with liquidators estimating it could fetch up to £4 million.

Hethersett Old Hall School, which closed in August, was an independent school located in Hethersett in Norfolk, that educated around 180 boys and girls. It was a day school for girls aged three to 18 and for boys aged three to 11, with boarding for girls from age nine.

It is being sold by Savills on behalf of business rescue and insolvency specialists McTear Williams and Wood.

The site includes the Grade II listed main hall and adjacent barn; canteen and dining hall; a sixth form block built in the 1980s; a purpose-built junior and pre-prep school added in the early 2000s; and the four-bedroom school house which sits on a 0.3-acre plot with separate access. The academic spaces include arts studios, a swimming pool, science buildings and a sports hall.
