City & Guilds has acquired a stake in online training company Filtered – the first investment from its New Venture Fund to support early stage businesses.
The Filtered platform personalises learning using adaptive technology. By asking questions at the outset, its algorithms "filter out anything a user doesn't need or already knows", it says.
This saves learners time and boosts productivity.
The firm offers courses in business skills such as communication, leadership and project management. Companies can also create their own content; clients currently include EE, New Look and Groupon.
City & Guilds’ £2.5 million New Venture Fund was launched in September 2015 and invests in post-revenue companies in the education and training sector.
Director John Yates said: “For us, this partnership isn’t only about providing Filtered with funding. It’s about working together to give them the best possible chance of success.
