Parents are in discussion with a Swedish school firm about opening a new school in Battersea, south London.
Internationella Engelska Skolan – International English Schools (IES) – runs a chain of secondary schools in Sweden, which teach largely in English.
Now the company has met with parents representing Battersea’s Neighbourhood Schools Campaign, which aims to launch a new comprehensive school to servce South Battersea.
IES chief executive Peter Fyles said the firm “fits perfectly into the gap between fee paying and state comprehensives. Parents groups in England want to create schools because it is very obvious that the good schools are full.”
The campaign has also met with the Harris Foundation, which runs nine academies in south London.
