Exclusive: TribaLearning seeks $7-10 million growth capital

Learning management system TribaLearning is seeking $7-10 million (£4.3-£6.1 million) in Series A funding, EducationInvestor can reveal.
This follows the $3 million in seed funding raised by the Finnish firm last year.
Triba's software lets students save, organise and search for learning material, as well as work collaboratively. It also uses data mining to personalise learning, based on an algorithm created with research from the University of Stanford and University of Helsinki.
The firm, which won't say how many users it has, has a number of contracts under its belt. In June it inked a deal with Numu Al-Elmia, a Saudi Arabian firm, which could result in "over 100,000" Saudis signing up to the platform.
It's also teamed up with e-cognition and Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore, and Jyväskylä Polytechnic in Finland.
Chief executive Mervi Palander said the firm had piloted its platform and was now “looking to grow our market traction rapidly and thus seek the next round of funding.”
The 12-person firm is headquartered in Helsinki but has representation in the UK, Malta, China, Singapore, Indonesia and Saudi-Arabia.
