Melorio confident of meeting expectations

Melorio has said it remains confident of meeting market expectations for the year ending 31 March.

In a trading update the training and assessment services group said that three-quarters of its current activities relate to the training of 16-18 year-old apprentices. It has recently opened four new IT academies, taking the total to 27, and added more capacity at existing sites. Recruitment for the February intake resulted in 1,600 new entrants, compared with just 600 in February 2009.

The group described performance its government funded adult training as “constrained”. But it added that it was expecting increased activity after 1 April, “when our funding contracts support a higher volume of learners”

Melorio added that it had made good progress with its commercially funded training offering. Its offering to the healthcare sector has begun to gain traction, it said, and it will shortly be opening a third gas and electrical training centre.

A fuller update will be provided on 30 March.
