Four education companies have made the Sunday Times’ annual list of the 100 fastest growing private equity backed firms.
Student accommodation provider University Partnerships Programme (UPP) was top performer in the sector, coming fifth overall. The company, which is owned by Barclays Private Equity, has seen profit growth of 413% over the last three years, thanks to both acquisitions and organic growth.
Other firms to feature on the list were independent schools provider Cognita, at 11, and educational technology developer Promethean at 20.
Educational publishing houses TSL Education and GTI, and recruitment specialist Teaching Personnel, also made the list.
The Sunday Times Buyout Track 100 is put together by research company Fast Track, and compares the profit growth of private equity-backed businesses over the last two years.
