Promethean reports £15.4m pre-tax profit

Interactive whiteboard firm Promethean has reported a 180% spike in pre-tax profits to £15.4 million for the year to end of December 2009.

Profits increase from £5.5 million in 2008 off the back of a £205.1million turnover, according to accounts for group parent company Chalkfree.

The company is preparing for a £450 million stock exchange floatation later this month and said it would use the cash raised to repay existing debt and establish a “modest” net cash position.

Neil Johnson, chief financial officer, said: “These financials show the continued strong performance of Promethean during 2009, which reflects an increased share of the rapidly growing marketplace for interactive learning technology. This remains an early days market globally."
