French buyout firm IDI, along with RAISE Impact, has acquired Talis Education, a France-based operator of for-profit vocational universities.

EducationInvestor Global exclusively reported last month that IDI was one of two bidders to have tabled a final bid for Talis Education, the sale of which was led by Rothschild & Co.

The terms of the transaction – which also sees Talis’s founder Serge Marcillaud and chief executive Yves Hinnekint retain stakes in the restructured equity – were not disclosed.

Established in 1978, Talis is a network of higher education institutions specialising in vocational training in the fields of international trade and management, marketing and communication, HR, finance and real estate.

The business comprises nine campuses, which collectively cater to more than 15,000 students.

Under the deal, Talis’s former shareholders Azulis Capital and Aquiti Gestion will exit their positions in the group.
