Online education company OpenClassrooms has raised $80 million in a round backed by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Lumos Capital, GSV Ventures and Salesforce Ventures, Yahoo! Finance has reported.

Founded in 2013, OpenClassrooms offers 54 training programmes and more than 1,000 online courses. It has one million members and approximately three million users visit the platform each month.

To date the firm has raised $149.7 million from investors including General Atlantic, Alven, French state bank Bpifrance, Citizen Capital and Xavier Niel.

In a statement the Paris-based start-up said: “The additional capital we’re raising today will allow OpenClassrooms to increase its impact by allowing even more individuals to access affordable upskilling and reskilling programmes, at a global level.”
