MML Capital Partners has backed a management buyout of school uniforms supplier Blue Max Banner.

The investment, for an undisclosed sum, will enable former owners the Fawcus family to exit the company.

Blue Max Banner serves a network of over 2,000 UK retailers and was founded in 1987.

Bal Johal, Luke Jones, and Edward Baker executed the deal for MML and Johal will join the Blue Max board.

Nigel Plenderleith, chief executive of Blue Max, said: “MML was our preferred investment partner because of their commitment to invest in growing our business. The MML team are flexible and creative in their approach and will allow us to get on with the job.”

Jones, a partner at MML, said: “Blue Max Banner is a successful, well run business and we are delighted to be part of its future in an expanding school-wear market.”
