Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education is to open three new private universities in the country as part of its five-year plan, The Peninsula has reported.
In addition, a new private Indian university, a Savitribai Phule Pune University campus is already opening in September at Barwa, Abu Hamour, initially offering five academic programmes.
In the 2018/19 academic year, the oil-rich state had 29 colleges and universities, and more than 34,000 students attended the country’s institutions in 2017/18. Qatar’s colleges and universities cater to locals and expats, as well as students from all over the world, particularly from the Gulf region.
