Global venture capital fund GSV Ventures has invested $7 million in South Africa ed tech start-up, Valenture Institute, Ventureburn has reported.
The investment is being used towards high-tech enabled boutique high school campuses in South Africa.
Valenture’s chief marketing and innovation officer Bradley Elliott said: “The investment will be used for further global expansion, enhancing the learning experience, and building out additional offerings such as new subjects and exclusive boot camps like coding, design thinking, data science, and more.”
Valenture stated that the funding will also be used for resources dedicated to the roll-out of the school’s campuses.
The start-up has three South African campuses opening in January: in Dunkeld in Johannesburg and the Cape Town suburbs of Newlands and Constantia – and the company says it has plans to open campuses outside the country soon in London, Boston, and New York.
GSV focuses on early-stage entrepreneurial partnerships with global ed tech companies such as Coursera, Photomath, ClassDojo, and Masterclass.
