Access Group, which provides business management software to mid-sized organisations, has acquired Soundbite Learning, a digital learning and assessment platform headquartered in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Soundbite Learning is a subscription-based platform which operates primarily through its business-to-business offering GCSEPod, used by more than 1,700 schools in over 40 countries.

Loughborough, Leicestershire-based Access Group’s education software platform provides for more than 8,000 learning institutions in the UK.

Anthony Coxon, co-founder of GCSEPod, said: “This transaction is a hugely important step in the company’s development, strongly positioning the business for its next phase of growth, allowing us to meet the growing need for secondary school students to learn in an independent, fluid and remote manner.”

M&A advisor finnCap Cavendish advised on the sale of GCSEPod.
