UK-based private equity firm RJD Partners has bankrolled a management buyout of Improve International, a provider of training and professional development to veterinarians.

The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, marks RJD Partners’ third education- and training-focused investment from its third buyout fund.

RJD Partners acquired a majority stake in Improve International and invested alongside its management team, led by chief executive Heber Alves and founder David Babington.

Improve International provides postgraduate courses and qualifications, as well as continuing professional development training, to veterinary professionals.

Its programmes, which are offered in eight countries and through licensed partners in another six, comprise in-person classroom learning, as well as online classes.

Improve International’s online-only propositions “reach a global audience”, RJD Partners said in a statement, adding that it will aim to develop offerings, develop the firm’s digital products and grow internationally through acquisitions and organically.

Frank Bulman, partner at RJD Partners, who will join Improve International’s board alongside Emily Henderson, said: “Improve is a market leader in a fast-growing niche within the education and training sector led by an impressive management team.

“It is exactly the type of business we are well set up to support and we are delighted to
be working with Heber and his team to help them realise their ambitions for Improve.”
