Day nurseries and pre-schools group Kindred Nurseries has acquired HRH Nurseries group which comprises three nurseries in Cambridgeshire, Nursery World has reported.

The three settings are The Barn Day Nursery in Huntingdon, Roundabout Nursery in St Ives and Girton Nursery in Girton.

Kettering-headquartered Kindred Education has added the three settings to its 18 nurseries in Greater London, Essex, Salisbury and Bournemouth.

The acquisition was supported by a £7.5 million finance package from Santander UK, which is funding the group’s future acquisition strategy.

Founded in 2015, Kindred Education employs 450 staff and aims to acquire 30 new nurseries in the next five years, increasing its headcount to 750.

Ruth Pimentel, chief executive of Kindred Education, said: “We are thrilled to welcome HRH nurseries into the Kindred family and to extend our reach into Cambridgeshire. They have already become a valued part of our group given their excellent match with Kindred’s ethos and high expectations of quality.

“We are now excitedly looking to the future, with many opportunities open for us to grow into a sizeable nursery group over the next few years. This is especially possible with the help and support of Santander UK, whose expertise has proved invaluable to our growth strategy already.”

Andy Casey, relationship director at Santander UK, added: “We are delighted to be working with the team at Kindred Education, who have built an excellent brand and reputation in the nurseries sector. We look forward to supporting the business to achieve its aspiration to grow rapidly over the next few years.”
