Australia’s Online Education Services (OES) has acquired a majority stake in London-based online learning design company Construct, which become a majority-owned subsidiary of OES continuing to operate under its own brand from offices in Salt Lake City, London and Cape Town.

Construct has operated since 2013 and has financial backing from European private investment company the RSBC Group. OES was established in 2011 by employment company Seek and Swinburne University, both based in Melbourne.

Denice Pitt, OES chief executive, said: “The investment in Construct builds on our purpose to deliver quality online learning for partner universities and organisations, and their students, regardless of location. Our shared people-first focus and combined expertise in education mean that, together, we provide unrivalled service to universities and higher education providers looking to deliver high-quality online programmes.”

Construct chief executive David Philipps added: “This announcement is hugely important for our companies and customers as we combine our strength and expertise to serve more learners on a truly global level. The past few years have brought strong growth and solid financial performance, and we look forward to continued success as we work with OES.”

IBIS Capital advised Construct on the transaction.
