Welcome Nurseries, established in last year, has acquired two further settings bringing it to 15 settings and 1,552 childcare places.

Quackers Kids Day Nursery in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, is registered for 85 places and further increases the group’s footprint in the North of England.

Welcome Nurseries’ head of childcare and education Linda Cuddy, said “This is a beautiful nursery. One of our acquisition criteria is ‘kerb appeal’ in busy locations and Quackers is a proud addition to our portfolio.”

Lysth Nursery in Wandsworth, London, is being rebranded and reregistered as a 128-place setting, the first acquisition the group has made in London. Cuddy said: “This is a modern building minutes from Putney, Wimbledon and Wandsworth town centres. It may well become our flagship setting.”

Welcome Nurseries has a policy of retaining staff and management after an acquisition and investing in a refurbishment of the setting where required. It has six further acquisitions at exchange, exceeding its original target of 2,000 childcare places by the end of the year. Cuddy said: “We intend to double the size of Welcome Nurseries to 4,000 childcare places by mid-2021 and become a top 10 group in 2022.”

Welcome Nurseries is headquartered in Richmond upon Thames, Surrey.
