Private schools network Basis Independent Schools is expanding to four campuses in New York City, NYMetroParents has reported.

Basis Independent Manhattan will include an upper school campus in Chelsea and its growing high school programme will also be located there.

Basis Independent Brooklyn will expand to a lower school campus in Downtown Brooklyn. Both new campuses are due to open in autumn 2021.

The original Basis Independent Manhattan on Columbus Avenue will focus on students in pre-K to fifth grade. The upper school campus on West 22nd Street, will accommodate sixth grade to twelfth grade.

Mark Allen, head of school for Basis Independent Manhattan, said: “Our expansion is evidence of the demand for our Basis curriculum. Our programme blends rigorous standards and foundational disciplinary study with ingenuity, creativity, and inclusiveness to create a world-class educational model. We know families have many choices among the long-standing and most reputable private schools in the country in New York City. The demand for our programme is humbling, and we are committed to making it available to students and families.”
