Graham Holdings, the diversified conglomerate that owns education services company Kaplan, has announced net income of $115.9 million for the second quarter of 2021, up from $18.9 million reported for the second quarter of 2020. Operating revenue for the quarter was $801.2 million, up 23% from $652.9 million reported for the second quarter of 2020.

Second-quarter operating income for Kaplan was $13.1 million, up by 7% from £12.3 million reported for Q2 2020. Revenue was $340 million, up by 2% on the $333.2 million reported for Q2 2020.

Graham Holdings also reported its results for the first six months of 2021. Its net income for the period was $228.6 million, compared to a net loss of $15 million reported for the first six months of 2020. Operating revenue for the period was $1.514 billion, up 9% on the $1.385 billion reported for the first six months of 2020.

Kaplan’s operating income for the first six months of 2021 was $32.1 million, up by 89% from the $16.9 million reported for the first six months of 2020. Operating revenue for the six-month period was $669.3 million, down by 3% on the $689.6 million reported for the first six months of last year.
