Higher Ground Education, a network of Montessori schools, has raised $40 million in a Series C funding round led by Venn Growth Partners, a Toronto-headquartered growth equity fund that invests in education, consumer and healthcare industries.

Other participants in the round included Learn Capital and Peak State Ventures, both education investment firms that previously invested in the company, as well as Nimble Ventures.

The Lake Forest, California-based company has raised $70 million in venture capital to date.

Higher Ground Education’s chief executive Ray Girn said the company aims to “mainstream and modernise Montessori education through extending its principles across infancy and into high schools” and to “provide end-to-end Montessori education, whether you’re a student, a stay-at-home parent or a teacher. We’re trying to be the village that helps the adults raising the child.”
