Venture capital firm New Spring Capital has invested an undisclosed amount into Skillshare, a New York City-based online learning platform for creativity, Finsmes has reported.

Skillshare has a catalogue of 30,000 classes and a community of more than 12 million members with almost 8,000 teachers. It offers pre-recorded classes, workshops, live sessions, and collaboration tools teaching illustration, graphic design, fine art, photography, marketing, animation, film and video.

Skillshare stated it will use the funding to add content to its platform, investing in tools to increase engagement between students and teachers, increasing its marketing efforts, and creating new formats for teachers to earn revenue. The company added that it is seeking more subscribers in the US and abroad.

New Spring Capital is headquartered in Radnor, Pennsylvania.
