Montessori House Day School in Tampa Bay, Florida has been acquired by Country Day School, which also uses the Montessori method of education, the Tampa Bay Business Journal has reported.

Montessori House Day School comprises two schools: Carrollwood and Town ‘N’ Country.

The acquisition lifts Country Day School’s portfolio to four schools. It also has locations in Indian Rocks and Largo, Florida.

Ted Gillette, head of Country Day, said: “I’m actively looking [for more schools to acquire] because I think it can be beneficial to assemble a nice footprint of campuses in Tampa Bay. And following in the structure we had built out of Largo, we would have a combination of Montessori options and non-Montessori options.

“We’re excited to be able to do this transaction because they’re the premier Montessori school in Tampa. At this time, I would want to be respectful of what they built, which is full-on Montessori, and only add to it.”

Montessori House Day School’s head of school Sally Parker, added: “Joining the Country Day School family will help Montessori House Day School gain broader recognition throughout the Tampa Bay area and benefit from Country Day’s substantial infrastructure.”
