Goodwin University, a private university in East Hartford, Connecticut is acquiring the University of Bridgeport, also a private university in Connecticut, which has 4,000 students.

Mark Scheinberg, president of Goodwin University, said: “This moves us one step closer on our path to building a new future for the University of Bridgeport that benefits the students, faculty, staff and communities of both University of Bridgeport and Goodwin University.”

Stephen Healey, interim president of the University of Bridgeport, added: “We are delighted with the progress that is being made on our work with Goodwin University and remain confident that this collaboration will benefit our students, faculty, staff and the entire UB community.”
