Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based Scholarships360 has raised $250,000 to scale its platform which helps students with applying to and paying for college.

In this past year, Scholarships360 stated it has helped more than 1.1 million students pay for college by providing free access to resources, including vetted scholarship opportunities and advice from industry experts. The company says it will use the new funding to enhance its platform’s personalisation features and tools for students, while adding the ability to connect directly with colleges, bootcamps, and employers.

Brian Geiger co-founder and chief operating officer of Scholarships360, said: “I remember searching for scholarships as a high school student and finding more spam than legitimate scholarship opportunities. When you’re applying to college you’re making one of the biggest financial decisions of your life, and you need trustworthy information at each step in the process.”

Scholarships360 co-founder and chief executive Will Geiger added: “Like Brian and I did, the vast majority of students attend high schools with insufficient counselling resources. So, they turn to the internet, where they are bombarded by misinformation, marketing and promotional material wrapped up as advice. This creates a massive informational gap for students, especially those from underserved backgrounds. Whatever background a student comes from and whatever paths they are considering for their future, Scholarships360 will help them make smart, data-driven decisions and successfully navigate the new education landscape.”
