USATestprep, backed by Serent Capital, has acquired Education Galaxy, an online assessment and intervention platform that delivers multilingual content to K8 elementary and middle school students.
Austin, Texas-based Education Galaxy has designed more than 20,000 pieces of multilingual content for K8 students used by 2,000 schools across 29 US states. The company was founded in 2013.
USATestprep, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, has a library of state standards-aligned content and products for K12 teachers and students in all 50 US states. Since its founding in 1998, the company has grown to cater to more than two million students annually in 4,000 US schools. Its online platform helps teachers identify student strengths and weaknesses in core subject areas, enabling them to customise assignments and learning plans, either face-to-face, remotely, or in a hybrid learning environment.
Jeremy Verret, co-founder and chief executive of Education Galaxy, said: “We’re thrilled to be joining USATestprep and provide engaging and effective solutions to more students and teachers. Both USATestprep and Education Galaxy share a similar vision: to provide teachers with powerful tools to drive student learning and engagement.”
Will Clemens, chief executive of USATestprep, added: “This acquisition provides an opportunity to add value for our existing customers and reach a broader spectrum of learners across K12.”
Serent Capital partner David Kennedy said: “Since our investment in 2018, USATestprep has more than doubled the size of its team to invest more in its product offerings, expand its footprint into new states, and further its mission of improving student outcomes. The acquisition of Education Galaxy bolsters USATestprep’s position as a leading national provider of next-generation supplementary learning solutions serving all grade levels.”
The acquisition is San Francisco-based Serent Capital’s twelfth investment in the K12 and higher-education markets to date. Previous investments include: LunchBox Orders (2020), FamilyID (2020), Visual Schedule Builder (2019), new|ed (2019), TRA (2018), KEV Group (2018), USATestprep (2018), ArbiterSports (2017), Digital Architecture (2016), Diamond Mind (2014), and C2 Education (2011).
